If you listened to Episode 30, you’ve already heard the complete third chapter of Le Pagine del Passato in both Italian and English.

Episode 31 presents the entire chapter again, this time completely in Italian.

No English. No interruptions, (except perhaps a short reminder that you’re invited to the upcoming meetup event 🙂).

For many learners, this can feel intimidating at first. But there’s something powerful about returning to a story you already know and allowing yourself to experience it through the language itself. You begin noticing familiar phrases. You recognize recurring structures. You stop translating every sentence and start following the meaning.

And that is where a lot of learning happens.

As I was putting this episode together, it struck me how much ground we’ve covered throughout Chapter 3.

We followed Mariella as she discovered the first clue hidden inside Nonna Maria’s book. We learned more about Mariella and Zina’s family histories. We explored the abandoned library, the red staircase, and we heard about the warrior’s gate, and the scribe’s chamber. We encountered mysterious messages, strange shadows, and clues hidden tra le righe - between the lines.

Along the way, we also encountered some of the most expressive structures in Italian:

• the gerundio
• pronouns attached to the gerundio
• combined pronouns
• reflexive and reciprocal verbs
• the gerundio composto

If you’ve been following this journey and would like to spend some time exploring these ideas together, I’d love to see you at our upcoming online meetup.

We’ll be working through Episodes 24–29, connecting the grammar to the story and discussing how these patterns appear in real Italian. The atmosphere is relaxed and supportive, and there is always plenty of time for questions and observations.

I invite you to listen to the episodes first and then use the meetup to make connections, clarify ideas, and notice things you missed the first time through.

If that sounds appealing, I hope you’ll join us.

In the meantime, enjoy the story.

And if you don’t understand every word, don’t worry.

Piano piano.

Sometimes the meaning reveals itself tra le righe!

For show supporters, the complete Italian-only transcript is waiting below, a great companion for going back through the story at your own pace.
